In June, 1984 Bob chose to start his own pool construction company, Aqua Pros. Bob's belief was simple and is the same today, "If we build the best swimming pools possible and pay attention to the details, we'll build a good business and most importantly, let’s make sure the customer is satisfied."

Aqua Pros opened its first store in 1986 in a small building (Route 122) in Bedford. Bob decided the store would help sell more pools. Bob is a firm believer in growing his business and Aqua Pros opened its second store in 1996 on Timberlake Road.

In 1997 they opened their third store in Madison Heights. Today, Aqua Pros serves a large area from Charlottesville to West Virginia. Its retail division carries high end lifestyle products including spas, tanning beds, gas logs, saunas, and wood stoves. Aqua Pros carries the distinction of being the areas only BioGuard Platinum Dealer, a leading chemical manufacturer for the pool and spa industries. BioGuard offers a unique computerized water analysis, which is probably our most valuable service to our pool and spa customers.

Aqua Pros service professionals are the most knowledgeable anywhere. Today there are a number of pools over 30 years old. We oversee all renovations of older pools assuring customer satisfaction, efficiency and adherence to Aqua Pros high standards. Bob mentioned "We are renovating concrete pools older than I am, and vinyl pools older than 26 years old".

In-ground pool customers now often want a more personal outside poolscape than just a "backyard pool." Aqua Pros can do both as they offer excellent in-house design services. Bob started out as a hands-on builder and nothing has changed. Customers testify they choose Aqua Pros because the owner is so often on the job making sure it's built right.

Now Aqua Pros has three locations on Timberlake Road in Lynchburg, Route 122 in Bedford, Dixie Airport Road in Madison Heights.

HEARTH PROS, a division of Aqua Pros Pools and Spas, Inc., was started in 1996. At that time, gas logs were a "hot item", and AQUA PROS took advantage of the room in our new showroom on Timberlake Road to broaden our horizons. Almost immediately we also moved into the wood stove business with our longest standing woodstove partner, VERMONT CASTINGS.
The hearth business blended well with the pool and spa side of the business. When one slowed the other picked up.

As they say, "the rest is all history", and today, we operate HEARTH PROS out of all our AQUA PROS locations. Hearth Pros offers a variety of products, including: wood , gas, and pellet stoves, gas logs and gas stoves, wood and gas fireplaces, inserts, and outdoor furnaces. All of our products are thoughtfully chosen with long term durability, efficiency, and our customers' needs in mind. At Hearth Pros we pride ourselves in being Central Virginia's largest and longest running hearth appliance dealer and we work hard to be the best. Our sales consultants are trained specialists in the hearth industry, and stand ready to help our clients with all their needs. Our service technicians hold certifications in Chimney Service, and wood and gas appliances.
