Founded in 1941 by Ben J. Davenport, Sr. Davenport Energy has grown from a small oil job to a multifaceted company.

Since its inception, Davenport Energy has strived to provide quality petroleum products with emphasis on customer satisfaction and personal contact.

The company started and grew primarily through large agricultural and residential demand for fuel oil. Today, our customer base has expanded to include large industry throughout southside Virginia and North Carolina.

In the early 1960′s, as small country stores began to dot the Virginia countryside, Davenport Energy developed a substantial business with service stations and convenience stores.

In the early 1980′s Davenport Energy recognized the growing need for propane service and supply. Davenport Energy is recognized today as one of the leading suppliers of propane in the region.

Through the lofty goals and work ethic instilled by its founder, and with the current leadership of Ben J. Davenport Jr. , Davenport Energy continues to be an industry leader with 8 regional offices serving over 21,000 customers. Our strong management team is dedicated to putting the customer first 100% of the time, thus providing unsurpassed product quality and consumer commitment.
