Ambassadors Committee:

RRHBA's official welcoming committee! Committee members welcome new members by making personal goodwill visits and phone calls toward the goal of helping them build a personal connection with RRHBA. Specific 2007 Goals and Objectives: (1) Implement the current Ambassadors Plan for new members and, by year-end, provide a report to the RRHBA Executive Committee regarding changes, continuation, etc.; and (2) Perform a quarterly review of general membership activities attendance to determine the level of participation of 2006's new members - findings are to be reported to the RRHBA Vice President. Associate Advisory Council:

This council/committee serves as the liaison between RRHBA Builder and Associate Members through the planning and implementation of social, civic, fund-raising, and other special events. They support all activities of RRHBA by participating in trade shows, networking events, as well as conduct special income-producing activities. Specific 2007 Goals and Objectives: ((1) Plan and implement the Association's annual "Toys for Tots" campaign; and (2) Plan and implement the Association's annual "Tree Giveaway" held in conjunction with Better Living Expo - THE HOME SHOW; and (3) Oversee the planning and implementation of the Bowling Bash (August) and Golf Outing (April), as well as the 50/50 program conducted during Membership Networking Events. Awards Committee:

This committee is responsible for the implementation of various awards given throughout the year, as well as the implementation of the Association's Scholarship Program. Awards are given for:

  • RRHBA Member of the Year; This award will be given in lieu of three other award categories (Builder Member of the Year, Associate Member of the Year and Exceptional Service)
  • Sales of new homes: Hammer Awards; for 2007, these awards will recognize 2006 new home sales and listings
  • Public Employee of the Year
  • Rookie of the Year
  • Lifetime Membership
  • Hall of Fame

Bowling Bash Committee:

The duty of the Bowling Bash Committee is to plan the annual Bowling Bash that is usually held in August. All meetings, promotional ideas and implementation of the event are the committee's responsibility. Proceeds are to meet or exceed the established budget. Budget/Finance Committee:

Established an annual operating budget for the Association, advises the RRHBA Board of Directors on income-producing activities, makes recommendations on investments and other financial matters, and provides recomendations regarding how to balance the operating budget without the use of the Association's financial reserves. Education Committee:

The primary duty of the Education Committee is to plan and implement interesting, timely and educational programs and articles. Such programs/articles strive to educate the RRHBA membership on business practices, trade skills and subjects of general industry interest. Programs are set up well in advance and publicized through notices to the general membership, and they are not a commercial for a product or service. Golf Outing Committee:

It is the duty of the Golf Outing Committee to hold an annual Golf Outing (2007 Outing, Monday, April 23rd). They are responsible for securing the location, sponsorships and all donations. The outing is to meet or exceed the budgeted amount of net proceeds for the Association. Committee meetings are set up well in advance, and outings are publicized to members through special notices and/or flyers within issues of the nail keg. Governmental Affairs Committee:

The duties of the Governmental Affairs are vast and much of what committee members do is issue driven. Following is a sampling of duties: (1) Develop personal relationships with elected local government officials; (2) Develop and maintain a system to alert RRHBA members when pending decisions of interest to the industry are being considered; (3) Prepare a bulletin/newsletter regarding local government action for use by all RRHBA members; (4) When appropriate, present proposed positions, in writing, on local and state issues to the RRHBA Board of Directors; and (5) Meets with other HBAs within the region to discuss regional issues, etc. For more information, contact RRHBA staff liaison Melody Williams, 540/389-7135 or mwilliams@rrhba.com.

Home Solutions Expo Committee:

Plans, organizes and produces the Home Solutions Expo - ideas for kitchens, baths and renovations as a major source of non-dues revenue for the Association. This annual show is usually held in mid-September. For more information, contact Carolyn MacLeod, 540/389-7135 or cmacleod@rrhba.com

Membership Committee includes the following sub-committees:

 

Ambassadors: The Ambassador Committee member (an "Ambassador") helps with the new member orientation process and encourages new member participation. Ambassadors pair up with new members and act as their hosts at meetings introducing the new member, as well as being a source of information. They call new members to encourage their involvement, as well as to check on their level of satisfaction with association membership. Ambassadors also remind new members about upcoming association activities. Special name badges help to identify Ambassadors at each Association activity. Recruitment: Establishes and implements a program for obtaining new members. Continuous program is interspersed with special drives, including those offered by NAHB and HBAV. Committee is familiar with and uses all NAHB and HBAV membership aids. Strives to reach annual membership goals established. Retention: Committee members contact assigned member firms at their membership renewal time to gain feedback and to strengthen relationships. Nominating Committee:

The importance of the Nominating Committee cannot be over-emphasized, for it is responsible for the continuation of good RRHBA leadership. Specific 2007 Goals and Objectives: (1) Present proposed slate to the RRHBA Baord of Directors by its 10/11/07 meeting; and (2) Develop a plan to cultivate and train potential Board Leadership. Personnel Review Committee:

Comprised of primarily members of the RRHBA Executive Committee, this committee negotiates a contract between the Association's executive vice president and RRHBA and stays informed, via the EVP, of the staff's overall performance. Public Relations Committee:

Oversees an effective public relations program that creates a favorable climate in the community so that the goals, programs and services of RRHBA and its members are understood and supported. Specific 2007 Goals & Objectives: (1) Develop a list of all RRHBA activities and their public relations aspect (e.g. what does the Association do and who does it impact; internally and externally); and (2) Identify and offer recommendations to the RRHBA Executive Committee on as many activities as possible regarding how to improve/maximize public relations effectiveness. Recruitment:

Sets up and operates a program for obtaining new members to insure full industry representation and HBA growth, which includes an annual membership drive. Specific 2007 Goals and Objectives: (1) Encourage involvement of The Foundation Club (2) Develop and implement a specific, membership recruitment plan for the entire year. and (3) Strive to reach a membership total of at least 450 by December 31, 2007. Retention:

Implements the Association's Retention Procedures, toward the goal of increasing personal contact with inactive members and giving all members the opportunity to express their needs and desires for services. Specific 2007 Goals and Objectives: (1) To obtain a retention rate of 90% as of 12/31/07; and (2) Report the committee's progress on a monthly basis to the RRHBA Board of Directors. SPIKE Club:

Formalizes SPIKE Club activities and supports the efforts of the Membership Committee. Specific 2007 Goals and Objectives: (1) To hold at least one SPIKE Club activity; (2) To increase the Club's membership by five members; and (3) To implement the annual SPIKE Golf Outing. Sponsorships:

A new committee formed in 2006, which will develop and implement a new, annual sponsorship program; total dollars, etc. to be raised are based upon the individual budgets for RRHBA activities (e.g. golf outing, networking socials, etc.) For more information, contact staff liaison Sue Smith, 540/389-7135 or ssmith@rrhba.com

The BIG EVENT:

THE HOME SHOW Committee:
